2024 YLI Literacy Empowerment Campaign: Changing Lives, One Word at a Time
At the York Literacy Institute, we believe that literacy is not just about reading and writing; it’s about empowerment, opportunity, and transformation. Every day, millions of adults around the world face barriers to literacy, hindering their ability to access education, secure employment, and fully participate in their communities. That’s why we launched our annual Literacy Empowerment Campaign (LEC) 17 years ago, to raise funds and awareness for adult literacy in York and beyond.
Through the LEC, we’ve raised over $900,0000 to help break down the barriers that prevent adults from reaching their full potential. With your support, we can continue to provide essential resources, programs, and support services to help individuals improve their literacy skills and achieve their goals. Whether it’s learning to read for the first time, earning a high school equivalency diploma, or enhancing job readiness skills, we’re committed to empowering adults with the tools they need to succeed.
Join us in our mission to build a more literate and equitable York. Your contribution to the Literacy Empowerment Campaign will directly impact the lives of adults in our community, opening doors to education, employment, and opportunity. Together, we can create a future where everyone has the chance to thrive, regardless of their literacy level. Thank you for supporting the York Literacy Institute and helping us change lives, one word at a time.
