We’re kicking off Give Local York with a naming contest for our new book-shaped mascot but need your help!
Between now and the end of Give Local York on Friday, May 2, you can cast a vote for your favorite name by making a $5 donation to York Literacy Institute. Simply complete the information below and select the name you like most. At the end of Give Local York, we’ll reveal the name that received the most votes and our total raised during this year’s online giving day.
Question: Can I donate more than $5?
Answer: Absolutely! You can enter any amount in the “Other” box.
Question: If I donate more than $5, does it count for more than one vote?
Answer: No, each donation counts as one vote.
Question: Can I donate more than once?
Answer: Yes! Each donation will count as a separate vote. We’re just trying to cut down on stuffing the ballot box by making a larger donation to sway the vote.
Question: Can I suggest a name?
Answer: Unfortunately, no. To ensure we don’t end up with hundreds of votes each for a different name (and no clear winner), we asked our staff and Board of Directors for their best suggestions and narrowed it down to the list below.
Question: Where can I see the new mascot?
Answer: We are hoping our mascot can join us at Give Local York on May 2, but they are being custom made and may not be finished in time. Even so, they will be at numerous events where you see the York Literacy Institute – and maybe upon special request!
