Buck A Book 2025 celebration at Rev’s Game

The Buck A Book® Reading Program 2025 celebrated its 33rd year at a recognition event before the York Revolution game on Saturday, June 14, 2025.

Many excited Buck A Book participants, including students, their families, and program sponsors, took part in a field walk with the new YLI mascot, Paige Turner, along with Digger Dog from Columbia Gas and the Rev’s Downtown mascot. Two excited kindergarten students were announced as the BMX bike winners. Top fundraising students had the honor of throwing out the first pitch and received autographed baseballs.

This year, 1,708 students read a total of 8,691 books and, with the help of program sponsors, raised $86,152 to support our York Literacy Institute’s adult literacy programs serving York County residents. Participating school districts included Central York, Dallastown, Dover, Eastern York, Hanover, North Eastern, Red Lion, South Eastern, South Western, Southern, Spring Grove, West York, York City, Holy Trinity Catholic School, Lincoln Charter School, St. Rose of Lima, YWCA, and Otterbein Early Education Center.

The success of Buck A Book would not be possible without the support of many generous sponsors. The Buck A Book 2025 Presenting Sponsor is Columbia Gas, and the “Send a Reader to HersheyPark” Sponsor is United Healthcare.

Prize sponsors that help bring the fun to Buck A Book, include McDonald’s, York Ice Arena, Doceo, Flinchbaugh’s Orchard & Farm Market, Hickory Falls Family Entertainment Center, Turkey Hill Experience, and York County Park’s Christmas Magic.

Additional sponsors for this year’s program include Central PA Advisors, LLC, GloFiber, Sesame Personnel, Sheetz, Stauffer’s Cookies/Meiji, and York Revolution.

The York Literacy Institute sincerely thanks all the students, families, schools, and sponsors for supporting the Buck A Book® Reading Program.
