York Literacy Institute will celebrate its 50th Anniversary with a special community presentation exploring the impact of artificial intelligence on education and literacy. The event, “Authoring Insights: Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Education and Literacy,” will be held on Wednesday, September 16, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at Yorkview Hall on the campus of York College of Pennsylvania.

The featured speaker will be Dr. James Norrie, DPM, LL.M., Professor of Strategy, Cybersecurity & Law at York College of Pennsylvania and author of Beyond the Code: AI’s Promise, Peril and Possibility for Humanity. Dr. Norrie will examine how artificial intelligence is transforming education, literacy, and learning opportunities, while discussing both the potential benefits and challenges these technologies present.

“As literacy and technology continue to evolve together, it is critical for our community to understand the opportunities and implications of artificial intelligence,” said Jason McSherry, President and CEO of York Literacy Institute. “This event aligns with our mission of empowering learners through education and provides a timely conversation about the future of literacy in an increasingly digital world.”

The evening will begin with refreshments at 5:00 p.m., followed by Dr. Norrie’s presentation at 5:30 p.m. A question-and-answer session will conclude the program at approximately 6:20 p.m.
