Bea Blatner Volunteer of the Year: Alice Muldrow

York Literacy Institute (YLI) is proud to honor Alice Muldrow, Vice President of Human Resources at Doceo, as the York Literacy Institute 2025 Bea Blatner Volunteer of the Year.

Alice has volunteered with YLI for the past 10 years, first serving on the Fund Development Committee and then joining the Board of Directors in 2018. During this time, Alice has been a driving force behind the organization’s growth, vision, and impact. Her leadership on the Board as vice chair and chair, along with her roles as chair of the Fund Development and Board Governance committees, reflect her deep commitment to advancing our mission.
Alice’s influence extends far beyond her titles. She has been a cornerstone of York Literacy Institute—an unwavering advocate, strategic thinker, and passionate supporter of our staff and students. Her gracious spirit has left a lasting impression on everyone she encounters. As one colleague shared, Alice “is extremely positive, gracious, active and kind about York Literacy Institute’s mission, staff and students. She brings her enthusiasm and energy to everything she touches.”
Alice’s ability to inspire and uplift others has made her a mentor to many and a beacon of hope for those striving to improve their lives through literacy. Her dedication has helped shape the future of YLI, ensuring that our programs remain strong, inclusive, and impactful.
Few individuals truly have the ability to move mountains—but Alice Muldrow is one of them. Her vision and tireless efforts have helped transform York Literacy Institute into a more vibrant, resilient, and forward-thinking organization. We are deeply grateful for her service and proud to recognize her extraordinary contributions with this year’s Bea Blatner Award.
In 2002, York Literacy Institute established the Bea Blatner Award in memory of Bea Blatner. Bea was a dedicated and long-time YLI volunteer for almost 20 years. She supported the organization’s mission by serving as a tutor, committee member, library volunteer, donor, and board member.
Each year, we recognize one of our volunteers with this award to celebrate all they have done for our students, organization and community.
This year, we proudly recognize Alice with the Bea Blatner Award!
